Starting on October 30th, the third floor Ballroom of the Watson-Curtze Mansion will host "Every Woman," a Mannequin Art Exhibit from Artlore Studio.
"Every Woman" is an LWV/Erie County 2020 Suffrage Centennial Project developed to help Erie County commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendments and to celebrate the diversity of our community. The project is also meant to place a focus on voting and remind all of our citizens that voting is a right, hard fought for by many, but also a responsibility.
"Every Woman" is a collaborative project of Artlore and the League of Women Voters Erie County Chapter supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
Fiberglass mannequins and busts were purchases and through the art of a diverse group of local female artists, their interpretation of women's suffrage is messaged in each artist's selected technique and emotional connection with the subject matter.
"Every Woman" has a story to tel. Mannequins strike a pose and artists deliver a message through design and their personal interpretation of the meaning of the vote, the women's suffrage movement and our American Democracy.
This exhibit will be on display until the end of November 2021.
